What Is Sexual Assault?
Sexual Assault

Sexual assault is an umbrella term that encompasses a variety of different verbal and physical harassment that is motivated by sex, gender presentation, or sexual orientation.

What Happens When You Report?
Sexual Harassment

Nonconsensual sexual behavior, either verbal, physical or both.

Sexual Coercion

Using pressure, guilt, or other methods, such as drugs or alcohol, to force sexual contact.

Rape

Forced penetrative contact with a body part or object. Even attempted rape is rape.

Verbal

Verbal sexual advances, jokes, propositions, or requests for sexual favors.

Physical

Unwelcome physical advances

including but not limited to:

-exposing and/or performing sexual acts in front of someone

-removing a condom nonconsensually or alternation of agreed-upon protection methods 

Aggravated

When physical force, a weapon, or threat of one is used.

Coerced

Any time someone creates a sense of obligation surrounding sex. This includes using guilt, continuing after consent was retracted, threats of breaking up or exposing a secret, and using other forms of power (such as financial control).

Drugs and Alcohol

Whenever someone is under the influence of drugs or alcohol they cannot legally consent. People may also intentionally drug or coerce someone into getting drunk or high in order to assault them.
